WHAT IS WILDLIFE DAMAGE MANAGEMENT?

Wildlife damage management is an activity that seeks to balance the needs of human activity with the needs of wildlife to the mutual enhancement of both.

Sometimes the solution to an animal-human conflict requires the human to change his or her behavior. Other times, the solution is to change the animal's behavior. Various tools and strategies are used to reduce human-animal conflict, such as behavior modification, repellents, exclusion, habitat modification, relocation, lethal control etc.

Wisconsin has its fair share of nuisance wild animal problems that come either with fur or feathers and present a problem for homeowners. Recently Canadien Geese made major news bringing down a jet liner into the Hudson River . Coyotes are breeding and expanding, woodchucks are taking over gardens even destroying the wiring under porches and in trucks and cars. Mice and rats have always been a major problem and still are. Pigeons, starling, woodpeckers, sparrows and swallows are just a few of new york problem bird species. These nuisance wildlife critters with fur include raccoons, skunks, foxes, beavers, coyotes, ground hogs, opossums, weasels, ermine, mink and a few other critter species. The bat species here in Wisconsin are presently in a massive state of decline due to an unknown disease presently referred to as White Nose Syndrome and state and federal officials are concerned of their possible extinction. It will soon be unlawful by federal law to trap, use glue boards, poisons or chemicals which  include moth balls for the control of any bat species. Please hire, only a wildlife control professional who uses approved exclusion techniques that allow for the exit of bats and denies re-entry using specialized one way doors. Bats are a major part of our eco chain and are very important pollinators of plants and they consume 6000-8000 insects each a night and will surely be missed and have a dramatic impact on all of our lives should we not be responsible and save this species.

Honey bees are also facing serious decline due to a disease of unknown origin called Colony Collapse Disorder. Please never hire a pest control company to simply kill honey bees without first giving them a chance and hire a trained beekeeper to remove them live and  keep them in the hands of domestic beekeepers. If you have a honey bee problem , please contact Robert H. Evans, with LivetrappingByMattwho services most of the state doing live honey bee removals or he can contract a local beekeeper such as Rob Overton, or many others who also provides services to help you remove the bees both safely for you and the bees.
