Butchering a snapping turtle is alot of work until you do it alot, and earn your stripes. There are a few tools you will need to do it the easy way. And Im not saying that I am doing this the only way there is. But believe me, If you use my advice as a starting point, and take it a notch higher as you learn. A sharp, long, and stiff knife is realy important. I use a GURKA knife, and it opens a turtle like a can of beans. A pair of good chanel locks is also important to keep control of the head while removing the head from a live snapping turtle, no matter the size of turtle.I will be adding videos as I compile them. Here in this first video, I am showing a good sized comon snapping turtle as I dispatch him and remove his head.
