A coyote can be from 20-45 pounds, depending on where you find them, and what may have cross bred with them. They do enjoy eating the flesh of just about anything, but will also resort to eating garbage, dog food, and fruit. I have even seen them eat corn. They are a pack animal, and the size of the pack will determine the capability of them to hunt certain animals for food successfully. 1-2 coyotes may try to take a deer down, but my money is on the deer. If that pack has 10 members things may be looking better for the coyotes having venison tonight. They work together to push prey into workable areas where the others are waiting. A tired deer meeting a bigger and more rested force is in real trouble.

I wont try to make a coyote into the bad guy. He needs to eat too, and who said the deer is any more important than anyone. We all have a function, and a place in the food chain. But when they come into the city and start affecting the way we live, its my job to put you back on the top of the food chain by removing the coyotes. Children and multiple pets get bitten or killed every year by coyotes, so don’t gamble with safety where your family is concerned.
