Animal problems seem to grow and grow if ignored. Like a bad tooth, it isnt going to get any better unless you do something about it. It may start with finding some shingles in back of your home, on the ground. Then you hear some scratching in the ceiling a week or two later. By now it is late march, and the noise hasnt been there for a few weeks. Every thing seems alright, maybe you just imagined the whole thing. But come april or may, that noise is going to get a whole lot worse! Let me paint the picture from the raccoons point of things.

The mother raccoon is an elusive creature. Alot is riding on her decisions she makes after she gives birth. In the past month or so, she has located 3-4 dens to have a go to place when one goes bad. Her nose tells all, and she uses it everywhere she goes after her babies are born and hidden. She goes out after dark to eat, and will not go far from your home, where her young are hidden in the insulation of your attic. When she hears the wining of her babies, she comes in charging, ready to fight!

Notice that I did not mention the male raccoon in this fary tail? Its because he is the bad guy. He has no part of raising the young. His only mission in life is to eat, and make babies. A female raccoon cant make babies if she is lactating and feeding babies, so his plan is to find them, and kill them!  The wildlife world is a cruel one.
